More Mix Foundation: Mix Buss Compression

November 2, 2015December 28, 2015 admin

Just a touch of compression on your mix buss (master fader) can bring cohesion and glue to your mix. It’s another of those foundational elements in any solid mix.

Here is another in the “5 Minutes to a Better Mix” series, from The Recording Revolution…

What folks are saying

Adam’s work was outstanding – so thoughtful and subtle. I’m in a band called Raker, and we recently reached out to him to master our first single – “Gospel.” He was quick, flexible, direct…establishing himself as our go-to-guy for upcoming releases. If you want to feel confident that you have an expert on board, go with Magic Ears Mastering.

I had high expectations and you blew them out of the water. I’ve worked with other mastering companies in the past and was always disheartened by the results, but this is genuinely impressive. I’m extremely pleased.

In my experience, it’s hard to find truly passionate mastering engineers. It’s been a pleasure working on many masters with Adam. His respect for the mixes and level of involvement with each of the tracks you send him is ridiculously refreshing. He treats each project with the same care and seriousness every time and delivers a polished and awesome sounding product.

“Knocked it out of the park, as always! Love what you did with the low end, again, as usual. The widening was a really nice touch as well, perfectly executed.”

I’ve always found Adam from Magic Ears Mastering great to work with! He has a keen ear and a fine attention to detail. I trust Adam with my mixes. I know when I send him something to master, it will come back sounding just like my mix, only better.

Magic Ears Mastering is the best! I’ve used them for many recording projects across several bands at this point and Adam always does a world class job. Adam has gone above and beyond for us and has taken pretty poor quality mixes, and cleaned them up and made them sound professional. He always strikes a great balance between volume and letting the mix breathe, without having that lousy over-compressed sound. I will be using him again (and again!) and I strongly recommend Magic Ears Mastering to anyone who wants a professional quality mix at an affordable price.

Working with Magic Ears Mastering has made it possible to not only meet all my deadlines, but also with a quality and reliability that always exceeds my expectations. Truly a blessing in the process of releasing my music!

In a seemingly endless world of in-the-box practitioners, Adam Matza at Magic Ears Mastering is the real deal. Whether it’s providing that special extra sheen you were always wanting, or giving you that punch and quality to stand out…He’s the mastering engineer of choice for me, project after project. And he should be yours, too.

Love it! Well done!! I love that it has the nice, deep low end we put in the mix…sounds nice and loud without being compressed/limited to death.
